Where: The presentation will be held in the Barrett Center at Pacifica Graduate Institute's Ladera Lane Campus at 801 Ladera Lane, Santa Barbara, CA 93108. Check-in will be in the lobby near the bookstore.

Course Description:    

Ann Tran-Lien, JD, will provide an overview of the MFT licensing process, including the laws and regulations pertaining to gaining hours of supervised experience, the requirements and qualifications of supervisors, the licensing exams, advertising guidelines, and employment-related issues.  This course will also discuss the most recent changes to the MFT licensing laws as set forth in AB93.

Learning Objectives:  

This workshop is designed to help you:

1. Explain the laws and regulations as they pertain to the MFT licensing process;

2. Describe the required experience hours for MFT applicants;

3. List the Board of Behavioral Sciences’ forms to be completed during the MFT licensing process; and

4. Describe the major changes in the MFT licensing laws as set forth in AB93.

About Ann: Ann Tran-Lien, J.D. has been a Staff Attorney with CAMFT since June, 2008.  Ann graduated from San Diego State University with a B.A. in Psychology and Political Science, and received her J.D. from the University of California, Davis School of Law (King Hall).  She passed the California bar examination in July, 2007 on her first try.  Ann worked for a civil litigation law firm before joining CAMFT, practicing primarily in the areas of personal injury, business, contracts, and family law.  As a CAMFT Staff Attorney, Ann provides guidance to members regarding their legal, ethical, and business matters, and she regularly contributes to The Therapist magazine.  She also provides law and ethics webinars and presentations to schools and agencies.
