What Does "Standard of Care" Mean to You?

presented by David Jensen, JD, CAMFT Attorney

(6 CE Hours)

Friday October 5, 2018

9:00 am - 5:00 pm

Course Description:

David Jensen, J.D., will review the laws pertaining to the standard of care, especially with regards to suicidal patients. The ultimate educational goal for this workshop is for attendees to become more nuanced in being able to describe the clinical activities that frame the legal concept of the standard of care. This course will draw heavily on actual cases involving the standard of care to explore the decision-making of colleagues who have run afoul of the standard of care, one way or another.

Learning Objectives:

1. Identify the three core activities of the standard of care.

2. Identify the three core attributes of a competent psychotherapist.

3. Discuss the importance of treatment planning to the standard of care.

4. Identify at least six mistakes Dr. Manov made in his treatment of Mr. Perez.
