Description (2950 characters max)
Treatment Philosophy:
Tiana’s personal style in her work with individuals, couples, and families is grounded, open, authentic, and compassionate. She sees the therapeutic process as a collaboration between therapist and client. In her work, Tiana empowers clients to recognize and utilize their strengths, and move through fear, sadness, and insecurities to achieve increased peace and intimacy with self and others. She uses a Humanistic based approach, and draws upon principles from Family Systems, Attachment, and Cognitive Behavioral models of therapy to support clients in creating pathways to healing and wholeness.

Professional Experience:
Tiana’s clinical training includes working with diverse client populations in individual, couple, family, and group settings at the Family Therapy Institute, the Community Counseling and Education Center, and AHA! (Attitude. Harmony. Achievement.). Her work at AHA! was exclusively with adolescents, working as an in-school and after-school group facilitator and an individual counselor.

Tiana has also worked in non-profit settings, including the Santa Barbara Foundation, Wilderness Youth Project, the Pomona College Career Center, and the Department of Clinical Psychology at UCSB’s Gevirtz Graduate School of Education, where she conducted research in post-traumatic growth. She also collaborated with a team of UCSB Ph.D. candidates and local elementary school teachers to develop a behavior reflection program at Canalino and Harding Elementary Schools. The program increases students’ emotional intelligence while reducing classroom disruptions and bullying.

Tiana serves on the board of SB-CAMFT as the Chief Financial Officer and has been an SB-CAMFT board member since 2015.
